This is so incredibly easy and known worldwide that I’m almost ashamed to post it! 😉
Wesley dogs, tiger tails, kilted sausages, würstchen im schlafrock, worstenbroodjes… whatever you wanna call them. They are great for a Mad Men inspired cocktail party.
I used shop-bought puff pastry and cocktail size sausages and all I did was:
cut the pastry into small rectangles,
wrap the pastry around the sausages,
brush them with a beaten egg,
and bake in preheated oven (200°C) until golden brown on a tray lined with parchment paper.
So good! I normally make these using kabana but will try using cocktail sized sausage next time~~

Thank you for following my blog! I think these sausages probably make for a softer appetizer but I’m gonna try it with kabana too 🙂

I love pigs in a blanket! Doesn’t matter if they are easy- so good!! 🙂 And they are great for parties!

Yes! You just leave them in the fridge and when people arrive you just pop them in the oven. 🙂 So convenient!

Do not feel like these are too simple. I actually made my own pigs in a blanket last weekend and compared them to the frozen ones we already had – the “homemade” ones were much better 🙂

Oh, yes, they’re way better than the frozen ones! But isn’t that always the case? 😉

This are always a favorite at every party! Always the first to go; everyone loves them! I love all the funny words you used to describe the sausages at the beginning of the post! I’ve never heard most of them, lol, gave me a chuckle! 😀

There are many more names, but I didn’t want to sound like a dictionary 😉 Apparently the whole world makes them! Glad I made you laugh 🙂

You should definitely try it with vege sausage! They may be old-fashioned but they’re always a hit 🙂

Sausage rolls! Love ’em but the skins on sausages here are really thick, so I put the sausages in hot water, then peel of the skins, then do it as you’ve set out. It’s a fiddle but worth it : )

Oh, what a bummer! Even the Viennese sausage?

I haven’t tried those but I shall stick with what I know, as the meat is of good quality and definitely beef/pork, no hidden extras! The meat/puff pastry texture, fluffy and light, then dense and savoury, is just the best with sausage rolls. Yum.

I do these with Strasburg sausages (kind of like frankfurters). Lovely with lots of strong mustard!

These are spiced Viennese so I used a milder dip 😉

I have a favorite cheddar sausage that only comes in large-sized pieces, so I slice them and wrap them in puff pastry…another variation on the theme.

My French girlfriend use to make these… and I had no shame… there wouldn’t be any left on the plate when I left! 😀
